Dangers of scuba diving and smoking

During scuba diving, the heart is already at high speed so the vital organs can receive oxygen. But when the divers also smoke, the capillaries aggregate which lead to blockage of blood vessels. If the diver smokes right before the dive, the blood vessels constrict which increases heart rate. This means the heart needs more oxygen which reduces oxygen for tissues and organs. Smokers need to work way harder on their dive than non smokers. Diseases caused are atherosclerosis which is blockage of blood vessels, oxygen deficiency or shortness of blood. The wrong gas exchange can lead to permanent damage to respiratory system.
